Mitsubishi Motors Corp. donates van to APFi
APFi wishes to extend its profound thanks to MITSUBISHI MOTORS PHILIPPINES CORPORATION (MMPC), through its President Mr. Masahiko Ueki, in partnership with Ms. Yumiko Hara, for supporting the charitable advocacies of APFi. The L300 Van donated by MMPC through the help of Ms. Yumiko Hara is now being used by APFi as an additional mobile school for street children. With this great contribution, APFi can now reach out to more out-of-school youth in the Philippines. APFi also wishes to mention the special contribution of Isabel Lourdes Jundis of MMPC for her efforts in facilitating the ceremonial turnover of the van.
Gracing the formal turnover ceremonies was Mr. Arnel Pineda himself, together with the other members of APFi; namely: Cherry Flores-Pineda, Ferdie Arquero, Tessang Bautista & Miles Casala. Said momentous event was also highlighted by a tree-planting activity jointly conducted by the officers and members of MMPC and APFi. In gratitude for the benevolence of MMPC, Mr. Arnel Pineda, capped the event with a heartfelt song by Bryan Adams entitled “Everything I do, I do it for you.”
APFi also wants to thank everyone who contributed one way or another in making this donation possible.
Domo arigatou gozaimasu MMPC!
Misyon: Edukasyon Project Recap
It was inevitable. When the idea of the APFI was foretold and its arrival became certain, Arnel’s point of focus and allegiance were announced. Guiding a young foundation isn’t about doing what’s popular to any one group. It’s not a quest for general approval, public or private. It’s not about doing what’s easy. It’s about doing what’s right. It’s about putting our children and their education first.
The vision of the APFI can be described as a fight to retain a child’s dignity and self-worth. It is an extension of heart. Donors and volunteers would adopt this purpose and intent. And as projects for the poor and displaced were conceived it wouldn’t take long for people to respond and to help establish the aim and to see to its growth.
Misyon: Edukasyon: an attempt to overturn a declining way of life; in a place where youthful aspirations are fleeting and the eventualities of boys and girls can be easily guessed. On Sunday, June 20, 2010 volunteers returned in commonplace to Sitio Bakal Barangay, Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. A few moments for pleasantries and it’s down to brass tacks.
Street School Project: Day One
In hardship and poverty it should be easy to agree on which symbols are worth fighting for. In a place where lack of asset and fortune are perfectly matched, how important is a child’s perception of education? In today’s world, celebrity advocates are commonplace. There are celebrities who pretend to be humanitarians, founders and co-founders that pretend to make reform. What is uncommon is to chance upon one whose devotion and drive come from a genuine desire to make a difference by the agency of what he himself once bore. The Mobile Street School Project marks the beginning of Arnel’s true, inherent vision. It is the promise of education and a child’s pursuit of knowledge that the APFI assumes to help facilitate and fulfill.
May 30, 2010. Quezon City. It’s Sunday morning and I see familiar faces… pleased to see some new. I’m inspired to witness a growing family of APFI volunteers. I recognize them as people genuine and ready to give of themselves. They are a growing list of friends and affiliates. A few moments of chit-chat and table-talk and Tessang briefly recounts the day’s activities as Justice Flores hands out our APFI T-shirts. If Tessang were capable of predicting how the day would play out we might never leave for congratulations and gratitude. As it was, we changed into our new APFI shirts, crowded into the APFI mobile van as Paul Cajipe, ever-dependable had us on our way.
